Re: International Maddak Awards
$1000 (US) Grand Prize to be Awarded
Maddak will be hosting the 32nd Annual Maddak Awards Contest at the American Occupational Therapy Association's (AOTA) 2006 Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Maddak Awards is our tribute to the creativity, ingenuity and dedication of Occupational Therapists who are continually looking for new ways to enhance the rehabilitation of their clients. Many times, when the OT can't find the right product, he/she makes it. All of these inventions and innovations are important because they satisfy a need in the patient's rehabilitation process. The basis behind the Awards is to provide a forum for OT's to share their ideas and innovations with others in the OT community.
Entries are judged on originality, functionality and therapeutic value by a panel of OT?s selected by the AOTA. Winners receive cash prizes and all participants receive certificates of merit. Entries are displayed at the special Maddak Awards booth during the AOTA Exhibit where prospective manufacturers have a chance to view the entries.
In 2006, Maddak will be expanding the Awards program to include a new category for entries submitted from licensed OT?s living outside the United States. One "Grand Prize" winner will be selected from this category and will receive $1,000.00 along with a certificate of merit.
To qualify for the International Awards:
1. Entrant must be a licensed OT.
2. The entry must be original and not commercially available.
3. Deadline for completed entries to be received is February 17th, 2006. Entrants are required to mail/ship their entries to
Maddak as "Samples" with $0.00 value for customs purposes (see entry form for other shipping instructions).
4. Entrants must complete the entry form and include a detailed description of the design and function of the invention,
as well as the actual invention. Please note that entries WILL NOT be returned. The entrant
does not need to be present at the conference to participate. For more information about Maddak and the
Maddak Awards contact custservice@maddak.com.
5. Entrants must state which Occupational Therapy organization they are associated with, for whom they work
and in what capacity. By signing the entry form, entrants grant Maddak Inc. permission to verify this information.
Judging will take place on Wednesday, April 26th at 11:00 a.m. The winners of the 2006 Awards, including the winner of the International Award, will be announced at a public breakfast reception on Friday, April 28th at 8:45 a.m. where all attendees are welcome. The winner of the 2006 International Maddak Awards will be notified by email and will be sent a check for $1000.00, along with a certificate of merit.
Please spread this exciting news and encourage all professional members of your Occupational Therapy Association to participate. Feel free to make as many copies of the attached entry form to distribute to members of your association.
