About Dolphin
DOLPHIN is a world-wide network of 'DOLPHIN fellows' — occupational therapists who are
- committed to utilise and share their professional skills and resources, in order to
- improve the access of marginalised individuals or groups in society to occupational opportunities which enhance their potential and well-being, by
- developing innovative grass-roots occupational therapy services.
This is achieved through
- networking and collaboration;
- developing and implementing occupational therapy services;
- engaging in evidence based research; and
- promoting greater awareness and involvement within the profession,particularly through training institutions.
Some DOLPHIN projects include
- a preventative mental health project for children and adolescent victims of war in Kosovo, in collaboration with Doctors Without Borders (1999);
- a research study about the role of occupational therapy with street children in Mexico (1999); and
- occupational therapy intervention with refugees in Guatemala(1995).
