Associate Professor, Tenure Stream. The Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, University of Toronto, invites applications for one tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The anticipated start date will be August 1, 2018. We are seeking candidates with scholarship in occupational science or occupational therapy in priority areas, including mental health and musculoskeletal health. Scholarly work focusing on enabling occupational engagement and inclusion of people at risk for, or living with, mental illnesses and addictions or musculoskeletal challenges is preferred. The successful candidate’s scholarship will situate occupation as a key determinant of health and well-being across their program of research or creative professional activities. Research on wellness promotion, diverse populations, new models of service delivery, measurement and effective practices is of particular interest.

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of excellence in research, innovative scholarship and excellence in teaching. Excellence in research will be demonstrated by a record of sustained and impactful contributions to and publications in leading international and discipline related refereed journals and an established, highly productive, independent, and innovative research program supported by successful, significant, and ongoing external funding aligned with mental health, addictions or musculoskeletal functioning. Strong endorsements by referees of high standing are expected. The successful candidate must demonstrate teaching excellence at both the graduate professional entry-to-practice level and doctoral stream level through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference and the teaching dossier and statement submitted as part of the application.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in occupational science, occupational therapy, rehabilitation science or a related discipline, will have completed a post-doctoral fellowship or equivalent (e.g. scientist appointment), and will have demonstrated leadership in their fields of study. All other scholarship being equal, an occupational therapist is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
